Why CAMP COMPASSION at Tamerlaine?
At Tamerlaine, our unique Summer Camp allows kids, ages 8 to 13, to disconnect with tech, and reconnect with nature!
Located in the beautiful New Jersey countryside, Tamerlaine Sanctuary provides a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, scavenger hunts, resident animals meet-and-greet, and outdoor games, as well as interactive workshops and presentations that teach about nature and animal conservation. Indoor activities include arts and crafts, cooking classes, yoga, and much more! Experienced certified teachers and resident educational staff prioritize safety and well-being, ensuring the campers have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Camp 2024
Tamerlaine creates a unique atmosphere allowing campers to develop skills in a variety of activities while gaining life skills. By learning about animal welfare and environmental sustainability, individuals can develop a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living beings and the impact of our actions on the planet.
Campers will meet and interact with our many rescued residents, including cows, pigs, turkeys, goats, chickens, and much more! Campers will also explore our pollinator garden, learn about the importance of native plants, and learn how to build their own pollinator garden.
The camp provides an affordable experience with lots of fun! Every day at Camp Compassion includes a full range of activities, lunch, and snacks provided.
Camp Compassion is an ideal setting for your students to make new friends, learn new skills, and enjoy a memorable summer experience.
Nature Exploration
Campers will explore Tamerlaine’s pollinator garden and learn about native plants in our area. Along the way, they’ll build shelters from natural materials—both large enough for themselves to play in and smaller ones to provide homes for the local pollinators.
Animal Encounters
Meet the animals and learn their stories. We educate and inspire youth to practice a lifestyle of compassion, respect and empathy through the humane treatment of animals.
Arts & Crafts & Baking
We tap into the earth’s materials and inspiration, celebrating nature’s beauty and wonder while inviting children to bake, create, and delight in treats they make themselves. Along the way, we paint, sculpt, draw, sketch, extract natural colors, and work with bark, sticks, and rocks—turning imagination into hands-on joy.
