Fight Against Factory Farms with Senators Booker and Warren -

Tamerlaine supports Senators Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren in their mission to pass legislation that ends factory farming across for good in our country. We’re counting on YOU to use your voices for those who can’t to get this important, groundbreaking bill passed. We’re so proud and grateful for all the amazing work our home-state Senator is doing. There’s just no one like him. Learn more about the Farm System Reform Act of 2019 here. Then, write your Senator and urge them to cosponsor the bill. Finally, sign and share the petition showing your support.

Did you know that New York City has more slaughterhouses than any other US city? And, most are wet markets with live animals, like the ones where so many pandemics, including COVID-19, start.

Tamerlaine is proud to be partnering with Jill Carnegie and Maureen Medina, and their organization Slaughter Free NYC to shut all of these down. Many of filthy places are located very close to children’s schools. Body parts, blood, feces, and other filth and gore are often strewn across the sidewalks where kids see them and can spread the germs inside their schools.

What’s more ALL of them are located in lower-income neighborhoods, which reeks of exploitation and inequality.

You can help. First, sign their petition. Next, share their groundbreaking, easy-to-use system to report all violations. The more reports that are received, the more pressure officials face to shut these dens of death down. If you don’t live near a wet market, share with someone who does! Finally, follow Slaughter Free NYC’s Insta and Facebook accounts and sign up to receive action alerts!

In 2018, the country learned that over 4 million chickens and 5,500 pigs were left inside crowded buildings to drown as they flooded during Hurricane Florence. Thanks to climate change, extreme weather occurrences are happening more frequently. Yet there are no federal laws protecting factory farmed animals in the case of emergency. Demand that FEMA know you demand they include factory farmed animals in their emergency plans, as they have done for pets. Don’t forget the power of words, and the power in numbers: once you’ve signed, share the petition. It really does help.
