Butterflies & Moths
Their beautiful colors. Dreamy patterns. Fluttery flight. If we don’t take care of our flying friends, we won’t see them much longer. In 2020, Monarch Butterflies were added to the endangered species list.
Like so many pollinators, most species of moths and butterflies are in decline. That’s bad news: these delicate insects are often barometer of environmental health. And despite knowing that moths pollinate an amazing number of plant species, studies on their activities have just started. We don’t even know what we’re losing.
Pollinators depend on native plants for food, and create food by pollinating. This cycle is a wonderful example of the beautiful interconnection we all share. Do you want to help? Start by growing a native plant garden.
