We’re determined. And effective.

Inspiring a better world for animals through Humane Education. One person at a time.

As much as we long to save every animal in the world, it’s a task that’s too big for any one person, or even one sanctuary. A vegan world is one that won’t be realized overnight—a heartbreaking fact to swallow. We believe in keeping our eyes on the prize of a future compassionate to all beings. That’s why, in 2021, we officially kicked off our Humane Education initiatives. Since that time, thanks to our live, interactive virtual tours and our advocacy work, we have grown our audience to a global community.

Norman, a turkey at Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve, gets plenty of love from these students.

Spending time with farmed animals is a privilege.

And it’s not one that everyone can access. Our virtual and in-person educational tours aim to change that. Locally, we’ve offered schools the chance to bring students to our Sanctuary at no cost. By allowing them to spend time with our rescued residents and learn their stories, we’ve guided thousands of students to the understanding that these animals are just as deserving as the animals we love and care for in our homes. For some, this was the first time hearing that idea. For most, it was the first hearing the truth about animals in our food system. Our virtual students share the experience from afar.

Experiencing time in green space is important, too.

We’re returning native habitat to its wild state. With 21 acres of restored grasslands and wetlands, we’ve already seen an increase in biodiversity, with more species of native animals, birds, and insects making a home at Tamerlaine. Recently we’ve undertaken a one-acre, structured pollinator garden with native plants. Our rescued residents, our garden, the wildlife and native plants…all drive home the interconnection of life and galvanize learners into making choices that will create a kinder world.
