YOU can be the GOAT for GOATS.

You don’t have to run an animal sanctuary to make a difference for animals. Every time your choice bypasses animals in our system, you’re choosing compassion. You’re also saving lives. If you love goats, start by saving their lives. Goats deserve to lead a happy enjoyable life, just like our other animal friends—heck, even us! Here are some circumfaunal choices to products made from goats.

Currific Curries

One of the most popular foods that goats are killed for are different types of curries. Curries can be made just as deliciously and more deliciously without goat meat. You can still achieve the hearty taste of curry by using potatoes, cauliflower, coconut…and seitan! Seitan is a popular vegan goat alternative commonly used in curries that will give you a similar texture to meat—without contributing to the nightmarish system that tortures and kills sweet, social, silly, sentient goats. Sounds like a win-win already, but there’s more! If you compare 100 g of seitan to goat meat, you’ll find seitan is high in protein (25.5 g), has NO cholesterol, and is low in fat (0.7 g). Goat meat , on the other hand has 27 g. of protein, 75 mg. of cholesterol, and and 3 g. of fat. Seitan: better for you, tastes fantastic, AND doesn’t involve death!

Mares Eat Oats & Goats Eat Oats…

…And WE can drink oat milk! Or almond milk. Or soy milk, cashew milk, hemp milk, pea milk…there’s even macadamia nut milk! You know what there ISN’T? Any need what-so-ever to drink milk secreted by another species. Goat milk is marketed as a fancy additive for baking or salads. But the fact is, the USDA allows 750,000 million pus cells per mL of goat milk. That’s more gross than chic. Not only does goat milk come with pus, but also with all the horrors of the dairy industry. Serve up some creamy kindness with your nondairy milk—available at just about any grocery store.

We know it can be hard to resist a creamy cheesy product. The oooey-gooey melt-in-your-mouth and spreadable cheeses are staples of wine-and-dine evenings. But guess what? You can love cheese AND animals! Switch over to vegan cheeses. Now, more than ever, there are tons of choices—even artisanal cheeses. We happen to absolutely ADORE Spero’s The G.O.A.T. cheese. Look how delish this looks.

High Fashion

Wild goats love the high life—literally. Jumping from cliff to cliff, living high in the mountains is kind of their jam! We like the high life, too, living luxe and lovely. And there’s a way we can ALL do that: we can make luxe choices that don’t involve cruelty. There are so many veggie choices for cashmere and mohair, from soybeans to beech trees to bamboo, and even recycled plastic! There’s no need for goats to be cruelly sheered, injured, or even worse, killed when their warm coats are removed too early in the cold spring. Listen, demand is what drives supply. Don’t buy cashmere—it’s in your hands. I mean…lookatchu. You can redefine fashionista with a focus on compassion. Go for it!

Organic cotton sweater

Like organic food, this cotton is made without harmful chemicals—which is important since your skin is your largest organ and chemicals can be absorbed through it. It’s great for soil quality and uses less water. Photo credit: Wear Pact. Click the pic to shop!

Soybean cashmere throw

According to PETA (and US), soybean cashmere has a similar luster and softness to silk, is as strong as cotton, is as warm and cozy as cashmere, and—our favorite part—doesn’t subject sweet goats to a life of terror and pain. Photo credit: Immaculate Vegan. Click the pick to shop!
