Wildlife Protection
Monarch Butterfly & Native Pollinator Conservancy
We have dedicated 26 acres of protected property for all native pollinators, including the monarch butterfly, which will be Tamerlaine’s pollinator habitat ambassador.
Our property lies on an overgrown vineyard bordering a large wetland area. It is already abundant in milkweed, the essential food for monarch caterpillars. Also plentiful are goldenrod, pokeweed, and many wildflower varieties, all beneficial plants to the monarch and many other pollinator species.
This Spring (2024), working with The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, we planted a hearty, disease-resistant variety of fruit trees in our pollinator garden. Many fruit trees, including apples, peaches, plums, pears, and crabapples, are good food sources for bees and other pollinators, especially in the spring when they flower.
Not only are the fruit trees beneficial to pollinators, but they will also offer a plethora of healthy organic fruit to our farm animal population.
Our plans include building the Monarch Butterfly Pavilion at the Conservancy's entrance. Visitors can explore the public pollinator garden's wandering paths while learning about the incredible monarch butterfly and the importance of all pollinator species.
