New Jersey: Help end the use of gestation and veal crates!
We have an opportunity to make history by passing a ban on the extreme confinement of mother pigs and baby calves in the Garden State.Pigs and calves suffer tremendously—both physically and mentally—in gestation and veal crates. These sensitive, intelligent animals are confined in cruel crates, which nearly immobilize them for virtually their entire lives. Fortunately, a pending bill, S.1298/A.1970, would ban the cruel caging of mother pigs and baby calves in New Jersey.
New Jersey supporters, we need you NOW!!!

Please post A.1970 for a hearing
Dear Assembly Speaker Coughlin,
As a New Jersey resident, I am writing to ask you to please post A.1970 for hearing in the Assembly Judiciary Committee. This bill would ban the cruel confinement of mother pigs in gestation crates and baby calves in veal crates in our state.
Gestation crates virtually immobilize mother pigs for nearly their entire lives. The crates are so small mother pigs can't even turn around or take more than a step forward or backward. Because of this lack of movement, they suffer muscle and bone deterioration that often leads to debilitating injuries. Veal crates are similarly cruel. Within days or even hours of birth, calves raised for veal are taken away from their mothers and locked in these crates, which are so tiny the animals can barely move.
I ask you to stand against animal abuse and prohibit the cruel practice of immobilizing mother pigs and baby calves in New Jersey by supporting A.1970.
Thank you for your consideration.
